Sobre nosotros
Jan Chetna Sansthan (JCS) means "Public Awareness Organisation" is a NGO working for awareness generating among the people, for their capacity building and empowerment. JCS was formed in 1988 by a group of social activists and development professionals. The field area of JCS is the tribals including women who constitute the most marginalised, disadvantaged and exploited section of the society in tribal populated villages of Abu Road block in the Sirohi District of Rajasthan. They assist the poor tribals to find avenues to earn their livelihood, maintenance of health, education, women empowerment and agricultural rights
Vision
Moving towards a society, where every person especially women are educated, aware about and exert about and exert for their rights and live in justice, dignity and freedom and equal opportunities are available for realisation of full human potential.
Mission
To organise the tribal, the deprived and the marginalised, especially women, raise awareness and build their capacities, so that they can assay a pro-active role in decision making process, take control over natural resources and their lives through collective effort and lead a dignified life.
Basic Strategy
• Community empowerment and ownership of projects to ensure the management and sustainability.
• Diversification in agricultural pattern, focusing on more profitable venture like horticulture, floriculture, vegetables, livestock etc.
• Equity and gender consideration with strong organisational capacity and institutional building.
The programmes undertaken by JCS include
• Non formal primary education,
• Primary education program for children to provide bridge courses to later mainstream in government schools,
• Integrated nutrition and health program for children below two years and lactating and pregnant women,
• Forming village groups to arbitrate on village issues, village developmental activities and fight exploitation,
• Promoting savings & credit groups of both men and women,
• Awareness creation of community towards right to information, tribal self rule and strengthening of Gram Sabha with active participation of people.
Dr. Ashok is the Programme Coordinator of Jan Chetna Sansthan (JCS).
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
