Sobre nosotros

The Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (SOYDAVO) is a local non-governmental, non-profit making organization with headquarters in the city of Burao, Somaliland, and satellite offices in the Sool and Sanaag regions, eastern Somaliland. SOYDAVO was registered as a non-governmental organization in September 2003.

SOYDAVO values the local existing potential and resources from the communities and aims at strengthening peace while alleviating poverty among the rural poor, through the use of local resources. The organization works closely with local authorities including the semi-autonomous Somaliland government officers and local municipalities, aiming to contribute to the country´s short and long-term development priorities through participatory and sustainable approaches. SOYDAVO envisages realizing democratic changes in the country by promoting interdependence, mutual respect, cooperation, and accountability, with full recognition of equal human rights and equity in participation.

Based on the wide-range social, economical and political limitations of Somaliland, SOYDAVO is engaged in multi-sector activities such as: education for vulnerable groups, economic development and livelihood support, protection of children and women rights, peace building and reconciliation, psychosocial recovery and WASH activities.

Vision
To acquire a society, whose children, women and youth are peaceful, have their rights safeguarded, and are socially, healthily, mentally, psychologically and educationally well according to world standards.

Mission
SOYDAVO is committed to work with human dignity, self development, and to make people promoters of their own growth for women, youth and children through the mobilization, training of their potential, and by implementing projects that meet their needs for education, health, skill training, income generation, sports and self empowerment.

As a result of implementing projects in the area of education, livelihoods, protection, psychosocial support, environment protection, awareness rising as well as water and sanitation, SOYDAVO has developed a strong contextual understanding of local social and political dynamics in Somaliland, crucial for designing successful interventions. These include strong relations with local leaders and local municipalities, a good awareness of the needs in its areas of work as well as the potential opportunities that NGOs can explore for improving the lives of vulnerable groups at the local level. Other strengths include:

Mohamed Guleid is the Executive Director and Mohamed Hussein Aideed is the Chairperson of Somaliland Youth Development and Voluntary Organization (SOYDAVO).

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
