Sobre nosotros
Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID) is a national level Non -Governmental Organization (NGO) formed by like-minded people engaged in the social development sector. The organization has been established in 2004 to strengthen and empower the underprivileged by making them aware of injustice, discrimination, rights, laws, and schemes etc. so that they can fight for equity, freedom, solidarity and rights.
Our Mission
Our aim is to empower vulnerable and marginalized communities through a participatory approach. We facilitate sustainable development of communities through the promotion of livelihood, health, education, women´s rights, and children´s rights as well as skills development for young adults.
Our Vision
• To prepare and initiate youth in their career path through skill development.
• To eradicate gender discrimination through education and awareness.
• To address the basic needs of the people including health, education, access to clean water, and sanitation.
• To make advocacy accessible to all through awareness programs.
• To include marginalized members of the society into the mainstream.
Activities:
• Women empowerment: The Gender Resource Centre (GRC) is envisaged as an instrument to bring Social, Economic and Legal Empowerment to women, particularly those belonging to the under- privileged and marginalized sections of the society. SPID works as a catalyst to make Delhi safe for women through social, legal and economic empowerment.
• Programs for children: Open Shelter for children of women in prostitution (GB road, Delhi); Balwadi infant care centre for children of weavers in Varanasi; Work with Special Children providing educational activities and facilitating certification courses; Informal education programs facilitating children’s entry into government schools
• Health: SPID organizes health examinations twice a month. During this examination, anyone from the community can have access to check-ups covering various health issues. If there´s a need, prescriptions are also handed out. SPID organizes a Health Camp once every two months where specialized doctors volunteer their time to the center. Each Health Camp is given a theme, for example: diabetes, eye complications, cancer, HIV, etc.
• Skills Development Program: Our livelihood promotion and skills development programs target women and youth from disadvantaged communities, in order to build confidence and teach useful skills. Vocational training programs for women include Dari making and Zari work, tailoring and cutting, and beautician courses. With these skills women can generate income for the betterment of themselves and their families; SMART Vocational Training for young adults
