Sobre nosotros
Groundwater Relief is registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We are an organisation founded in 2013 and supported by a membership of over 200 hydrogeologists and groundwater professionals. Our members work within water utilities, mineral extraction companies, environmental consultancies, oil and gas companies, government and educational institutions from across the globe. Our members join us to utilise and volunteer their skills and knowledge to support the sustainable development of groundwater resources for the world's poorest and most vulnerable people.
Our Objectives
To provide relief, support, income and livelihood opportunities to people, anywhere in the world, who live in poverty, or lack access to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible and affordable water, by developing their and their water providers’ capacity to sustainably develop groundwater resources.
Services: We provide charitable organisations support on a diverse range of groundwater related issues.
• Emergency Support: Offering quick, practical solutions in challenging circumstances through groundwater reports and an emergency roster of hydrogeologists.
• Groundwater Development: Working with water providers to realise the potential of groundwater resources. To develop a groundwater resource there are a number of phases of work that need to be undertaken including siting, construction and testing. Groundwater Relief supports charities at each of these stages, working when possible with local contractors and groundwater professionals.
• Groundwater Management: Collecting, managing and assessing data to model the subsurface environment. Groundwater Relief offers help to organisations with the set up and development of monitoring programmes, data management, data analysis, groundwater assessments, modelling the subsurface, the maintenance and the rehabilitation of groundwater infrastructure. To aid our work we have also developed two resources: www.waterdatarocks.org (An open access groundwater database to enable charities and others to collect, preserve and share borehole logs and other groundwater data) and The Pocket Dipper (A low cost water level monitoring tool).
• Supporting groundwater professionals: Groundwater Relief is against aid dependence and believes strongly that the future of the developing world lies within the hands of those who live there. Therefore, whenever possible, Groundwater Relief works in collaboration with local professionals, building their capacity whilst simultaneously ensuring that a good job is carried out for the charities we support. Groundwater Relief supports the development of groundwater professionals in three principal ways: Mentoring; Contract Management Support to charities and Training.
