Sobre nosotros

AID INDIA (Action in Disabilities India) is a group working to empower disadvantaged and often forgotten sections of Indian society (primarily impoverished rural women and people with special needs) through sustainable trade, health, and educational programs.

AID INDIA was established in the year 1992 as a registered trust with the primary focus being the welfare of people with disabilities in rural areas. As the organization became increasingly aware of the many needs of our communities, they enlarged their objectives to include the support of rural women, children, and people with special needs. They accomplish this by enabling programs centered on education, awareness, and the promotion of social and economic development of these groups.

With this expanded focus, they began by forming self-help groups with the women of the impoverished dalit caste in their area. Besides, AID INDIA is actively involving in HUMANIST MOVEMENT and has been attending national and international conferences in this movement. From these meetings AID INDIA gained further knowledge and the motivation to create several initiatives, with the primary focus being the formation of our own sustainable micro-credit program for disadvantaged people in our area. They have named this program as Grama Vasantham ("Village Prosperity"). In collaboration with Humanist Movement AID INDIA has been running Distance Adoption Programme.

AID INDIA develops programs according to its focus, and the specific needs it sees in the community. These programs have been diverse and far reaching. Educational programs have been implemented on AIDS awareness and prevention, child labour solutions, human rights, literacy, and environmental and health issues. Their primary objective is to secure the necessary seed capital to further and properly implement micro credit programs for income generation among poor women and people with disabilities. AID are also currently in the planning and logistics stages of a resource centre for people with disabilities.

This center would be used for giving training and shelter to the disabled on land they have already acquired. As always, they would like to form more self-help groups among people with special needs, and there are long-term objectives of starting a dispensary for people with disabilities, and a day care center for the elderly.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Further we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff and establish new contacts in the field of disability issues. Also we can give exposure and training on our micro credit programme for the small organizations.
