The Organization for Defending Victims of Violence (ODVV) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan organization in Special Consultative Status to the Economic And Social Council of The United Nations (ECOSOC). The ODVV has established in 1998 in Tehran and has been active in the field of human rights and humanitarian activities. The ODVV is also associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI), a partici-patory of the NGO's Coalition for an International Court (based in New York), and one of the CONGO members.

Some of the noteworthy activities of the organization are the establishment of a rehabilitation centre for the victims of social violence, participation in the Global March against Child Labour, the acting as national coordinator in Iran and the hosting of the Asia-Pacific NGO's Forum for World Conference Against Racism (WCAR) in Tehran.

Presently, the ODVV has a broad network of its members under patronage and enjoys expanded relations with foreign and Iranian NGOs. ODVV has received assistance from international organizations in order to realize its objectives. The ODVV also brought together other NGOs in Iran who have common goals relating to human right issues.

The organization has had active presence in various human rights conferences and has participated in the sessions of the UNHCHR. The informative activities of ODVV include, among other things, ODVV's English language publication entitled "Defender's Newsletter" and an informative newsletter on human rights situation in Iran and special reports on various similar issues. We have also begun to publish relevant books.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Further we can offer expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, deliver a lecture, procure expert information and establish contacts in the field of our work. Besides that, we offer assistance for net projects.
