Qui sommes-nous
The "Aktion Wasserbüffel" (Action Water Buffalo) association was founded in Jülich in 1994 by members of the Philippines-Coordination Group of the human rights organisation International (AI). The focus of the work of the organisation is to realise all human rights in the Philippines, including economic and social rights.
The objective of “Action Water Buffalo“ is to help the Philippinos to help themselves. More than half of the population there live below the poverty line. The water buffalo, the indispensable beast of burden in the Philippines, is a symbol of urgently needed aid.
The association is assisting in the development of the refugee village Kara-an on Negros Island, the acquisition of water buffaloes for the natives of Mindanao and the provision of drinking water in the poor districts of the metropolis Cebu City.
A Children’s Learning Centre in Cebu is being supported, as well as a children’s village for abandoned, battered and abused children.
We offer a School on the Street for the street kids of Cebu City. On Bohol we support an organisation offering basic health care in rural areas.
On request, we can offer other net participants a consultation, or make a presentation. We can provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of human rights in the Philippines.
