Qui sommes-nous

Forward Germany campaigns for the abolition of female genital mutilation (FGM). We do this by continual non-party lobbying at local and national government level in every European country and by supporting activities against FGM in the countries where it takes place.

Our aims:

• Changing the laws regarding asylum, health, child protection and criminal law mainly in Germany but also in EU development cooperation work.
• Linking child benefits to the medical examination of children and young people.
• Setting up and establishing research into FGM.
• Including the topic of FGM in the training of doctors.

Our network:

• We cooperate with international and national organisations: Amnesty International, Inter-African Committee, EuroNet FGM, END FGM European Campaign, German INTEGRA-Network against FGM.
• FORWARD Germany cooperates with representatives from the world of politics, education, health care and social welfare.
• We work together with medical councils and associations and with medical insurance companies.
• We support emigration offices, customs, the police and the justice department.

Our projects:

• Worldwide work in the media – internet, press, radio and television.
• Youth work in the social networks – e.g. YOUTUBE, FACEBOOK, TWITTER etc.,
• The spreading and establishing of an alternative youth culture in art and music. Workshops and information events in educational establishments and youth centres.
• International publicity work with African artists.
• Support and advice for teaching hospitals.
• FORWARD counsels and supports women traumatised by genital mutilation or those who wish to protect their daughters from FGM.

On request, I /we can offer other net participants advice, give an expert opinion, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
