Qui sommes-nous
The Concern for Development Initiatives in Africa (ForDIA) is a Sub-regional development consulting not-for-profit organization, which facilitates people-centred development initiatives within local conditions. ForDIA undertakes the activities of research, training, advocacy and consultancies in the themes of Conflict, Peace and Security; Democracy and Governance; Gender Equality Development; and Poverty in the context of North-South Development Dialogue.
ForDIA was established in May 1996 and registered in Tanzania. We are geared to promote, strengthen and uphold transparency, accountability and efficient utilization of Tanzania natural resources.
Activities
To undertake research, training and advocacy for enlightening the public with researched-based knowledge and materials on national and international issues pertaining to democracy and governance; gender equity and equality development; and social-political and economic development in Africa south of the Sahara in general with emphasis to the Great Lakes Region of Africa and Tanzania in particular.
Great Lakes Peace and Security Network (PeSeNet): ForDIA is the Secretariat of the Great Lakes Peace and Security Network (PeSeNet), the network striving to forge the partnership for state and civil society on the aspect of peace and security in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. PeSeNet was established through declaration of participants of the ForDIA-organised three week training seminar on Conflict Prevention, Mitigation and Response (CPMR) - 2002.
Strategic Activities of PeSeNet
PeSeNet is self mandated to perform the following key functions;
• To undertake research, training and documentation on conflict, peace and security aspects in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
• To undertake preventive diplomacy through lobbying and advocacy for peace and security in the Great Lakes Region of Africa;
• To establish and maintain the Great Lakes Regional Conflict Data Bank
Adam Kivenule is an Administrative Assistant of ForDIA.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
