Qui sommes-nous
Established in 2010, Embrace Tanzania is a Non-Governmental Organisation registered in the UK and Tanzania currently operating outside of Stone Town, Bububu, Zanzibar.
Our Mission:
To promote wider access to education and training, so as to further self-development for members of the local population.
Our Vision:
Embrace Tanzania supports the self development of individuals and communities within Zanzibar. The funding for any projects undertaken is initially supported by an element of volunteers’ contributions as well as from tourism. However further support will be sought and developed as new-found partners link with Embrace Tanzania.
Bringing together foreign nations with Tanzanian and Zanzibarian nationals, helping them to share knowledge and expand each others horizons. This is why we operate a sustainable non-profit organisation, the sole goal of this enterprise is to bring together people from all over the world in one place, with all profits from this put directly back into the projects.
We are a relatively small volunteer organisation, currently employing ten staff in Zanzibar, all of whom have knowledge and experience of the English language. Each member of staff is eager to meet and greet volunteers from any part of the world, hopefully making them feel they have found ‘that home away from home.
Embrace Tanzania offer teaching placements in local schools in the area, putting money back into the community and providing the schools with vital resources such as text books, exercise books, stationery, and the help to carry out maintenance on old dilapidated buildings.
With our projects we aim to put back into the community any profit we make from Embrace Tanzania. We aim to arrange frequent fund raisers, sports days, build youth centres, sports coaching, Adult English and IT classes etc. We want to open an HIV awareness program also.
All our projects are based in Bububu and the surrounding area. The majority of our projects are teaching orientated but don’t let that deter you from coming; you can teach in any capacity, you can lead the lesson or simply be an assistant and help the children with their work. If teaching is not for you at all, then there are many other projects in which you can help; sports programs, women’s groups, craft groups, music, IT groups. If you have any particular skills then feel free to drop us the idea and maybe you can start your own program whilst volunteering.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Also we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
