Qui sommes-nous
Light of Youth Creative Organization (LYCO) is a registered youth organization and was founded in 2009 with the mission of upholding arts and culture through research, training, exposure display and performance and creation of job opportunities and self-employment for the youth. LYCO is based in Lilongwe and operates its programs in schools and out of schools at national level. Light of Youth Creative Organization (LYCO) was launched on 10th January, 2009.
The main objective is to transform and educate youth through arts and culture thereby exposing talents of students and youth.
Objectives:
• To promote writing and publication of creative works.
• Transform and educate Youth through arts and cultural
• To promote and nurture a reading culture.
• To promote visual and performing arts including stage acting, music performance, visual arts, traditional dances and film production
• To disseminate information and civic education on a number of social issues affecting the youth and society.
• To rejuvenate and uphold positive cultural perspectives among the youth.
Projects:
• National Schools and Youth Arts Festival (NASFEST): The festival is a series of competitions in different theater disciplines, such as stage acting, music visual arts, traditional dances, film production and short story writing among schools.
• Creating a `youth arts resource and conference centre´ which will have a library, internet café, hostels, classrooms, cafeteria and auditorium.
James W.A. Kitchen is the Founder of the Light of Youth Creative Organization (LYCO).
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
