Qui sommes-nous

The organization Nomad Aid was founded in autumn 2007 by nomads in Tibet and friends from Germany. In the spring of 2008, the association was registered in Germany as a non-profit organisation. Since then we have been involved in the nomadic areas of Tibet.
In 2016, contact was established with young volunteers in Bhutan. Since 2017, the association Nomad Aid has cooperated with the organization Druk Rangyuel Phendeyling and has also carried out projects in Bhutan.

We support nomads and rural people in Bhutan and Tibet - by helping them to help themselves. All projects are developed, planned and implemented on an equal footing with our local partners. The German project members visit the project areas every six months.

Focus of our work:
• Rural development,
• improving educational opportunities,
• Basic medical services,
• Sports programs for children and adolescents.

Our work:
• So far, we have built two elementary schools for 200 children in Tibet, as well as an infirmary with women's and children's departments, and created opportunities for handicrafts and medical education for nomads.
• Furthermore, we have already enabled 200 young people to study at secondary schools. The community centre offers evening classes and hygiene training for adults.
• Through the Yak Program, we support single women and their children.
• We also provide motorcycles for nomadic families.
• Since the beginning of 2017 we have also been involved in Bhutan. Here we have already built a multi-generation cardamom farm, a dairy farm and a carpenters' workshop, and established education and sports programs at two partner schools. Currently, 22 children and adolescents are supported in the training programs.
• In addition, we offer educational services to schools and all-day kindergartens as well as to adults in Germany on global topics.

Sandra Busch is the founder of Nomad Aid and Leonie Rösgen is responsible for communications.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
