Qui sommes-nous
Sewa Development Trust Sindh (SDTS) is a humanitarian, non-profit organization of Sindh that was founded by a group of leading Development Professionals and Human Rights activists in 2003 which implements humanitarian and development activities across Sindh through the following four program:
• Disaster Response Program (DRP),
• Social Development Program (SDP),
• Capacity Building Program (CBP)
• Volunteer Development Program (VDP).
The word Sewa means ´service´ in Sindhi/Hindi language.
The SDTS envisages socio-economic changes aiming at the provision of equal opportunities for the full realization of gender potential. SDTS has worked for the development and relief of marginalized and vulnerable communities on the basis that all individuals irrespective of race, faith, color, sex, economic status, political stands have the right to choose how to live.
Objectives
• To provide service delivery for basic facilities of life in remote areas.
• Struggle to eradicate social evils and poverty from the community and to provide conductive atmosphere for the human development.
• Struggle for development activities through participatory approach.
• Strengthen and empower people politically, socially and economically.
• To provide advocacy, information, personnel technical support & training.
• Create socio-economic and human rights awareness
Projects
• Active Citizens Programme: This programme aims to develop leadership skills in young people of Khairpur, Sukkur and Larkana districts. It facilitates community and political participation amongst young people through interaction with local community, organizations and local and national governments.
• Community Restoration Program: The project aims to restore access to essential services through employment-intensive rehabilitation of basic/critical infrastructure of flood-affected communities and households at risk; reduce environmental hazards and disaster risk exacerbated by or resulted from the flood in ways that facilitates the safe and resilient recovery of livelihoods of the affected population.
• One Room Shelter Program: The project use local designs and mobilize communities´ capacity for self-help to meet the unprecedented need for shelter solutions.
• Transitional Shelter: SDTS provided transitional shelter support and distribution of winterization NFIs in union council Jamali.
• Gender Equity Program: To create environment for women households and land owners and women at risk enjoying equal rights through mobilization, information and participation and activism of civil society organizations
• Agricultural: SDTS provided agricultural support and distribution of vegetable seed, fertilizer and toolkit
• Health: Construction of Mother and Child Health Care Centre Building; medical camps; health education trainings
• Education: Establishment of 37 non-formal community schools and enhancement existing schools by providing teaching aid and literacy material to poor and illiterate as well as dropout students of the area.
• Women Development: Vocational Training Centre for Women
