Garden of Hope Foundation is a faith-based community organization that is passionate about restoring hope through providing mentorship, leadership and youth empowerment.
Our Mission
Garden of Hope Foundation´s mission is to build sustainable communities through developing leaders among the youth in marginalized environments.
Core Programs Programs.
Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship
This programs support vulnerable youths from the marginalized communities and urban slum through equipping them with skills in Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Basic computer skills.
The program is geared towards providing sustainable solutions to youths living in the Marginalized communities and urban slums .The youths who participate in this program have an opportunity to be absorbed in various employment sectors and hence sustaining them financially.
This program is guided by three core objectives:
• To ensure disadvantaged youth in acquire life skills, relevant labor market skills and skills in small business development.
• To facilitate disadvantaged youth access job opportunities through our private & public partnerships.
• To ensure youth receive mentorship as they transition to work and school (College and University)
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
This program aims at building sustainable communities through supporting SDG 6.2 ¨Achieve access to water and sanitation to all paying attention to the needs of women, girls, boys and men. Since the program started in 2014, it has worked with High schools, pre-schools, youth groups and members of the Community. The program work through a community based approach by integrating various aspects of WASH including, but not limited to Menstrual Hygiene Management and Hand washing.
• Menstrual Hygiene Management.
The United Nations Estimate that a girls misses 4-5 days of school a month due to lack of safe and hygienic menstrual products. Since 2014, Garden of Hope Foundation has supported over 2,000 girls stay in school. The program has also supported over 50 single mothers with menstrual Hygiene and Sexual Reproductive Health information. In addition, the program has included boys in order to break the silence on menstruation. The program focus on three aspects of MHM. Breaking the silence, Safe and Hygienic Disposal and safe and Hygienic management.
Volunteer and Internship.
This program seek to provide personal and professional growth opportunities to youths through volunteerism and internship.
Since the inception of this program has hosted over 30 volunteers and Intern from Kenya and abroad. Volunteer and interns who go through this program often excel in their career and community development goals.
Ignite.
The program aim is to nurture young people through an informative, inspiring and a transformative approach. The program work with high school student through sports and art. Since its inception the program has worked with over 9 schools reaching 350 high school students per week.
Objectives
• Improving the well-being of the students academically, emotionally and psychologically.
• Increasing positive engagement behaviors to build social capital among the youths.
• Strengthening and developing constructive relationships with the community and schools.
Victor Odhiambo is the Founder and Director of the Garden of Hope Foundation.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
