Qui sommes-nous
Rüsselheim is a non-profit association founded in 2009. Rüsselheim's team has set itself the task of rescuing animals and providing them with a safe place to live. We pay particular attention to the so-called "production animals", which would never have the chance of a dignified life in industrial animal husbandry. These animals have no lobby and are exploited, tortured and killed billions of times over.
Our work
• Currently about 1500 animals live under the protection of Rüsselheim. Around 500 pigs, 550 cattle, 350 sheep, goats, ponies once destined for slaughter, as well as a number of small animals such as chickens, geese, ducks and rabbits have been rescued and saved from exploitation. All have a life on one of our 11 sanctuaries nationwide, as well as in some smaller private foster homes, without suffering the disregard and disrespect generally found in the slaughter and dairy industries.
• They are the few who have a naturally long life with qualified farmers and we work to ensure that eventually all animals are seen as equivalent creatures that may live in a species-appropriate environment among others of their kind. At the same time, we offer farmers who are willing to rethink and escape the meat-producing industry a regular and non-violent income by providing life for our animals.
• 2 fattening units have already been converted to life farms. Places where animals were once seen only as “wares” and "slaughter cattle" are now places where the animals live a sheltered and happy life and people can encounter these wonderful creatures.
• Enlightenment activities are also part of Rüsselheim's work .
• Through the stories of the rescued animals, we want to show the cruelty that animals are exposed to in our society and to motivate people to rethink. Behind every "animal product" that we encounter in the supermarket, once stood a sentient, lovable creature.
Doris Rauh is the founder and President of Rüsselheim.
On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
