Qui sommes-nous

Volunteer for Youth in Health and Development (VOYOHEDE) is a youth led organization, educative non profit making, non governmental organization founded by indigenous people of Mtwara. The organization was legally registered on 28/03/2012. The organization was registered to operate in Tanzania Mainland, but current is working in only one District in Mtwara region.

vision
VOYOHEDE’S vision is to see positive health behaviors and social economic well being among the youth by the end of 2025.

Mission
Our mission is to enhance community positive health behaviors and social economic well being of the youth, especially those from rural and poor urban through volunteering, education and support by using debates, seminars, workshops, income generating activities and sports.

Our approach:
• School approach, through youth clubs we get other who are in need and require our services.
• Community approach, through community leaders and introducing ourselves to the local government leaders and so receive the targeted group.
• Program approach, through implementing our activities e.g. people with disabilities.

Projects:
• Home based care (HUWANYU): Case finding, anti retro viral therapy (ART) abscond and emphasize ART adherence and refer to care and treatment clinic (CTC) and voluntarily counseling and testing centres (VCT); Recognizing people with chronic illness, people with disabilities and identify their needs and social support then support or refer to the appropriate stakeholders; To provide health education to care taker and counseling to patients with chronic illness; To provide social support like medicines, food, mattress, clothes etc..
• Reproductive health education and sports: To advocate on reproductive health and family planning; To provide health promotion on the importance of health insurance, national health insurance fund (NHIF), tiba kwa kadi (TIKA), community health fund (CHF); To provide health education and life skills to secondary school students; To conduct community sensitization on family planning and proper care to young children, boys and girls.
• Volunteering and civic education for good governance: To advocate on good governance; To sensitize youth on volunteering and patriotism; To provide civic education to the community; To provide entrepreneurship education to youth, women and people with disabilities.
• Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education: We are organizing and mobilizing youth and women voluntary center where would be providing continuous entrepreneurship education and initiating income generating activities or livelihood projects.

Deogratius Makoti is the Executive Director of Volunteer for Youth in Health and Development (VOYOHEDE).

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
