Qui sommes-nous

Doctors for Environmental Protection (AefU) arose out of a concern for an increasingly unhealthy environment that threatens our health and puts the lives of future generations in jeopardy. Our members are predominantly doctors, dentists and vets, as well as students of these professions. Members of other professions support the association's goals as patrons.
The association was founded in 1987. Issues relating to Switzerland are dealt with by the central board and in working groups. The association is a member of the “International Society of Doctors for the Environment”.
The association promotes the understanding of the natural foundations of life among the medical profession, among patients and the public. We are committed to environmentally conscious actions in the medical field and in public. We fight in particular against the poisoning of air, water and soil and the consequences for plants, animals and people.

What we do
• The Board of Directors of Doctors for Environmental Protection (AefU) discusses issues related to the environment and health and defines key topics. These are currently e.g. the environmental medical advice network, the mercury pollution caused by Lonza in Valais and the topic of the annual Medicine and Environment Forum. AefU has been persistently working on the problematic emergency protection in the event of serious nuclear accidents, the topics of electrosmog and genetic engineering, air pollution and climate change, or the problem of pesticides, among others with own research.
• Specialist journal Oekoskop: The specialist journal of doctors for environmental protection
• Medicine and Environment Forum: Environmental toxins are the cause of many diseases, as well as reducing our feeling of well-being. Patients suffer from negative environmental influences and get sick, often without recognizing the cause. Recognizing the clinical picture, minimizing the burden and thus contributing to health is a medical task with a connection to preventive medicine and environmental policy. The advanced training sessions in the context of the Medicine and Environment Forum pick up questions from this area. They take place once a year.

Mike Gosteli is secretary of the AefU - Doctors for Environmental Orotection.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
