Qui sommes-nous
The love for Africa and many stays in Tanzania made us to found Tabasamu. An NGO with which we support the people in our environment on their way to independence – financially, but also through know-how.
Tanzania is still one of the poorer countries in the world. Unemployment, a poor health care system and especially poor or even non-existent education hinder the progress of the country and the individual. Many NGOs are on the spot. But many people simply fall through the cracks.
And this is exactly where Tabasamu (kiswahili for laugh or smile) comes in.
A laugh opens doors and hearts. With a laugh you get access to people, access to a foreign culture. And we want people to be able to laugh. Because we support them in their needs. And hereby we are not just talking about money. We are also talking about access to education.
We firmly believe that education is the key to success. And for us, success means that people can lead a self-determined and happy life. This is what we at Tabasamu would like to contribute to.
Projects:
Our support is currently primarily in Kigamboni/Dar-es-Salaam and in the Maasai village of Changalikwa.
Kigamboni:
Our goal for the people in Kigamboni is to improve the quality of life through empowerment:
• access to education by financing school fees and school materials
• promotion of young girls and women in the project WEEDO
• promotion and financing of business ideas to strengthen personal responsibility, e.g. chicken projects, strategy and marketing consulting for start-ups
• emergency assistance
Maasai-Village Changalikwa:
Our goal for Changalikwa is to improve the quality of life in the Maasai village through:
• ensuring medical care
• education for the children
• sufficient water and food supply for the Maasai and their animals
• introduction of solar power
