Qui sommes-nous

FURAHA is Swahili and means happy.
The “Children's Fund FURAHA”is a non-profit organization that supports primary schools in Kenya through sponsorships and projects. In this way, education and upbringing are promoted and “help for self-help” is provided. We arrange school sponsorships and carry out fundraisers and campaigns. These funds cover the running costs of the school, i. e. employee salaries, maintenance and teaching materials.

Our work
We run two primary schools in western Kenya and one in the capital, Nairobi. Here children from very poor families receive good education, healthy nutrition and medical care.
We also support secondary school students in western Kenya and students across the country, promoting adult education, women's and agricultural projects.
We work with INUA VILLAGE TO GLOBAL FOUNDATION LIMITED. This is a public limited company with limited liability status. It is allowed to sell self-made products (eggs, clothing, spirulina).

Projects
• We operate three primary schools in Western Kenya and Nairobi, award scholarships for secondary and university students, carry out nutritional programs and family visits and provide support in the event of problems.
• Waterworks for VTG: We want to give our Village To Global School (VTG) and two nearby schools and the population access to clean water by building a well (120 m deep) with a water tower.
• The schools and most households are to be connected to the water tower by a water pipe.
• Spirulina breeding facility: Since February 2019 we have been working with the non-profit organization Thriving Green e.V., which started an ambitious project in Ebukanga: the construction of a Spirulina breeding facility.
• Tailoring: In our school tailoring workshop in Ebukanga, the school uniforms are sewn for all of our schools. It is also possible to buy private clothing for children and adults there. A small shop is attached.
• Chicken farm: On our chicken farm in Ebukanga, many chicks have grown into large laying hens. The eggs are used for the school lunch at VTG, some of them are sold. The farm is constantly growing.

Claudia Scheel is the first chair of children's aid organization FURAHA.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
