Qui sommes-nous

The Syrian Social and Cultural Association in Munich is a non-profit association founded in 2017, in which young Syrians who escaped the war in their homeland remember the people who stayed there. They make music, workshops, dance, theatre, sport ... so as not to lose hope, but also to show that they can contribute a lot to our society.
The purpose of the association is to promote and help refugees, to promote their education and integration in Germany, but also to maintain and promote music, especially choral music and art and culture.

Projects:
• Soccer team: Doing sports, such as playing soccer, is a popular hobby and also enables other Syrians to participate and new contacts to be made.
• Theatre: Putting on stage plays together promotes cohesion and understanding between cultures. That is why an intercultural theatre should not be missing from the Syrian social and cultural association.
• Travelling exhibition: "In spite of everything – I'm alive" - travelling exhibition of the UN Refugee Aid. Pictures of refugee women tell of pain, despair and violence, but also of courage, will to live and hope.
• Syrian peace choir: We sing Arabic folk songs and German songs, we dance together, we organize workshops or stage theatre. Our motto is: "Live together - celebrate together" - for a more colourful society.

Ahmad Abbas is the chairman and Uday Alturk is the deputy Chairwoman of the Syrian Social and Cultural Association in Munich.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
