Qui sommes-nous
Pamoja Youth Initiative is an independent youth led non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit making organization dedicated toward empowering Zanzibar youth to realize, utilize talents and potentials in propelling socio-economic and political development in Zanzibar.
Pamoja Youth Initiative was officially registered as a non-profit organization on January 21, 2015.
Pamoja Youth Initiative searches for collective efforts to engage, empower, and transform youth to have active role in developing themselves and support positive changes in Zanzibar.
Mission
To be the center for youth involvement and participation to realize and utilize their potentialities towards the development of the society
Vision
We envision to have the society where by youth are able to use their potentialities in developing the society.
We focuses on the following areas:
• Youth Leadership Development: We provide training and tools to support youth personal development; Platform for youth to hold leadership positions; mentorship; youth´s participation in leadership programs nationally and internationally;
• Youth Civic Engagement and Democracay: To ensure more active role of Zanzibaris youths in civic and democratic process, we build their capacity through training on democracy, elections, freedom of expressions as well as engaging in debate through media programs, social media platforms. Also though this section we are running monthly public lectures project “daraja forum” to disseminate information and engage policy makers, researchers, academicians, as well as youth activists to engage in critical debate on youth participations in and topics relating to youth empowerment and national development in general;
• Livelihood and Employability: Under this section, we provide young people especially high schools students, college and or university and graduates with: Career development skills and guidance; Build platforms between employers and Universities; Career mentorship. We provide youth with: Motivations to start their own business; tools and resources; access to finances; networking with other young people engaging in entrepreneurial activities.
Projects:
• Career Lab: Career lab addresses the key issues facing young people surrounding employment and underemployment and develops their readiness for the workplace. Our project empowers college, university students and graduates with the confidence, skills and experience needed to engage with employment.
• Community Transformers (CT): Community Transformers inspires young people to take leadership role in their personal life and their communities by equipping them with skills and knowledge on leadership. The project offers leadership skills, mentorship and at the end of the project the participants conduct group project to solve social challenges in their communities.
• Daraja Forum: Daraja Forum seeks to connect young people and build the culture of using dialogue to advocate on youth agenda. Daraja Forum hosts monthly lecture series, panel discussions as well as showcasing initiatives taken by young people on entrepreneurship and innovations.
• Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP): The Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP) equips the youth with skills, knowledge, networks and necessary resources needed to transform their business and embark into entrepreneurial journey.
• Soma Project: Soma Project is an initiative aiming at renovating and distributing books to public schools and ophanage centers to revive the learning culture among youth in Zanzibar.
Rashid Mwinyi is the Chairperson of Pamoja Youth Initiative.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
