Qui sommes-nous

Global Welfare Association (GLOWA) is a not-for-profit; nongovernmental organization, in Special Counsultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Established in 2004, GLOWA is dedicated to upholding the rights of children through educations and training.

The goal of GLOWA is to significantly reduce the rate at which children are abused through trafficking and exploitation in the North West Region of Cameroon.

Mission
GLOWA combats human trafficking and the damage it creates in communities throughout the Northwest Region of Cameroon through raising awareness, rehabilitation, and advocacy. Our work aims to nurture a culture of respect for human rights, particularly those of children and women, and fight against the systematic abuses faced by the most vulnerable.

Programs:
• Trafficking Awareness Program: To raise awareness on child trafficking and its impact on rural and urban communities.
• Community Involvement: Counter Child Trafficking Resource Center - To provide resources and research opportunities to the general community on child trafficking.
• Support Programs for Victims of Trafficking: To provide rehabilitation services to current and potential victims. Professional rehabilitation through marketable skills such as Motor Mechanic; Industrial Welding; Tailoring; Traditional Embroidery; Survivor Academic Rescue Fund; Counseling; Basic Healthcare; Paralegal support.
• Advocacy: To encourage policy at local and national levels that will contribute to reducing child trafficking and abuse. Promote positive parenting practices that will create a safe environment for child within the home and reduce the rate at which children run to the streets.

Future projects:
• Construction of a Rescue home that will offer temporary accommodation to rescued victims. Rescued victims have often been lost to traffickers due to the absence of a rescue home in Bamenda.
• We also hope to develop a training curriculum in some of the trades regularly solicited by survivors such as tailoring, hair dressing and traditional embroidery. Present vocational training initiatives are through partnerships with profit making business ventures with limited capacity to handle survivors of human trafficking.
• We also hope to develop and publish a peer campaigner´s manual to be used to improve the performance of community based abolitionist.

Jamils Richard Achunji Anguaseh is the executive Director of Global Welfare Association (GLOWA).
