Qui sommes-nous

The Zanzibar Association of People with Developmental Disability (ZAPDD) is a Non Governmental Organization established in 1999 by the parents of people with developmental disabilities, for the purpose of promoting the welfare of people with intellectual disabilities in Zanzibar

ZAPDD development programme
It focuses on the development the organization, and children, youths and adults with intellectual disabilities:
• Strengthening the association through increasing membership, and resources for carrying out mission of the organization
• Empowering youths with intellectual disabilities with appropriate knowledge and skills on advocacy and livelihood
• Awareness raising in the community, public and private institutions on the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
• Advocating for inclusive laws, policies, social and economic programs
• Enhancing networking within Zanzibar and beyond

Activities:
• Running advocacy programs for improving lives of persons with intellectual disabilities through improved access to social services within the lens of human rights
• Mobilize resources and key actors in education and vocational training for ensuring the delivery of quality inclusive education to children and youths with intellectual disabilities in Zanzibar.
• Promoting access to justice by propounding for inclusive laws and reasonable accommodation for persons with intellectual disabilities in the judicial organs at all levels.
• Mobilize resources to carry out economic empowerment programs aimed at poverty eradication for families of youths with intellectual disabilities.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
