Qui sommes-nous
Warriors of Hope South Africa (WOHSA) was established in 2014 by Zeenat Parker with a vision to serve underprivileged communities in the Western Cape. Zeenat Parker is the founder and current Chairperson of Warriors of Hope and is affiliated to Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Chaplaincy.
WOHSA is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and has an active Board of eight (8) members. The organisation is based on the principles of serving our Creator, inclusivity, and collaboration.
Our Mission
The WOHSA is an organisation which aims to spread a little HOPE, show a little LOVE, give a little STRENGTH, and have a little FAITH.
Warriors of Hope South Africa is an organization who in seeking the pleasure of Allah, seeks to spread hope, show care, and enable steadfastness, courage, and resilience in facing difficult situations with dignity.
Our Vision
To give hope through giving dignity, encouragement, and empowering communities through meaningful connections.
Our projects are supporting underprivileged communities through education and life skills programs, food hampers, collaboration, and empowerment to encourage growth and self-sustainable projects for themselves.
• The Chaplaincy at Red Cross Children’s Hospital: The Chaplains provide spiritual, financial (Zakah) and social support to all families at Red Cross Children’s Hospital through counselling, distribution of literature, hampers and other supportive measures as needed. The service is currently based at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. We hope to expand to other hospitals both nationally and internationally to assist the parents and the child patient during their stay at the hospital. We have published a Bereavement Book which we hope to make available in at least 3 of the official South Africa Languages. Encourage patients and their families at Red Cross Hospital and other places of need through the provision of the Chaplaincy service.
• Community Services: We support disadvantaged communities with feeding schemes, food hampers, zakah distribution, collaboration, and empowerment to encourage growth and self-sustainable projects for their communities via our various projects. We aim to uplift and empower previously disadvantaged women by providing them with opportunities to earn a living and to acquire transferable skills. This is to be achieved by providing training to woman on various skills relating to the manufacturing and distribution of reusable sanitary towels such as sewing, book-keeping and stock and quality control. This will also be achieved by partnering with NGOs to set up Skills Centres to assist with the development of communities through job creation.
• Corporate Social Responsibility: We act on behalf of corporates to sustain their CSR (Corporate social responsibilities) by drawing up packages for the identified impoverished areas. Hands on and active approach towards the washable sanitary towel drives by producing and delivering the product along with an education on menstrual health. To sustain the project, community members are empowered with a training on how to sustain the initiative.
• Education Initiative: We conduct workshops at schools: education, life skills, My Body, art therapy, and the washable sanitary towel initiative to curb the absenteeism and school dropout rate due to missed school days. The Warriors of Hope aims to educate women and girls about menstrual health and address the societal and human rights issues linked hereto including the right to education. This is to be achieved by providing girls with menstrual educational booklets and reusable sanitary towels. To uplift school children by providing them with life skills and tools to thrive despite their challenging circumstances. Being conscious and Caring for our environment in the initiatives that we pursue.
• Washable Sanitary Towels Distribution: Our organisation has been striving to educate young girls to learn more about their menstrual health and also make use of the sanitary towels we produce so that they can avoid skipping school. The unaffordability of disposable sanitary towels results in menstruating girls missing school and eventually dropping out and missing out on their opportunity of overcoming their challenging economic circumstances. Bearing those circumstances, we proactively seek the assistance of the community to help us achieve our goal to manufacture and distribute sanitary towels to the disadvantaged areas. The reusable sanitary towels are environmentally friendly and a constructive way of reducing our carbon footprint.
