Qui sommes-nous
Wegwaisen (wordplay: signpost / way for orphans) is a non-profit organisation which was founded on 21st August 2012.
The purpose of the organisation is the promotion of development cooperation, in particular the support of the Mountain Kids Orphanage in Buea, Kamerun. Our organisation is based in Cottbus, Germany, where the majority of our practical work in Germany takes place.
"When someone dreams alone, it's just a dream. When many people dream together, it's the beginning of a new reality.” – Dom Hélder Pessoa Câmara
The new organisation “Wegwaiser” works under this motto, with the dream of improving the lives of orphans in Cameroon. Thanks to donations and membership subscriptions, we have been able to open the Mountain Kids Orphanage in Buea, Cameroon, and to maintain it. There are two house mothers there, who care for up to 10 children.
Activities:
• conceptual and material support for the Mountain Kids Orphanage in Buea, Cameroon
• Fund raising
• Information about the general living situation and the economic problems of the people in the so-called developing and emerging countries.
• Organisation of events and activities such as talks.
Projects:
• Mountain Kids: having been opened in March 2013, the orphanage is now home to six children. All of them attend kindergarten or school. A teaching assistant comes to help with homework every Sunday. The house mothers and the team there report to us about how well the children have settled in and that there is a very homely atmosphere. This year, the Mountain Kids family celebrated their first Christmas together. Our organisation in Germany has also developed well this year. The running costs for the orphanage were covered by our membership subscriptions!
Angelika Müller is the president of “Wegwaiser”.
On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
