Qui sommes-nous

Iringa Development of Youth Disabled and Children Care (IDYDC) is a NGO in Iringa, Tanzania, transforming lives since 1991, registered in 2009 No. ooNGO/R1/00438 under sec. 11(3) act No. 24 of 2002. Originally focused on street children and orphans, we've grown to support health, education, environment, women's empowerment, Wash and sports programs. We aim to uplift people, including needy children, people living with HIV, youth, and the poor.
We invite you to join us by volunteering, donating, or spreading the word. Together, we can create lasting change through our rehabilitation centers, vocational training, HIV/AIDS awareness, youth empowerment, and children's rights initiatives.

Vision Statement:
IDYDC wants to see free from disease, poverty, illiteracy, and social developed where human rights are respected.

Mission Statement:
IDYDC exists to improve the living standards of beneficiaries in the Iringa region and other parts of Tanzania by establishing rehabilitation and vocational training centers, a Football for Hope Centre, health education, care and support, a community radio station (Nuru FM),
Entrepreneurship support, gender equality initiatives, child labor prevention, environmental protection, water and sanitation programs, and other activities aligned with the organization’s objectives.

Key Objectives:
• Increase awareness on alcohol and drug abuse among youth.
• Raise awareness on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, STIs, stigma, and life skills.
• Improve access to comprehensive community care and support services for PLHA and OVC.
• Conduct health-related advocacy and lobbying through meetings and campaigns.
• Provide vocational education and technology skills to youth and orphan vulnerable children.
• Improve living standards of low-income individuals through soft loans and entrepreneurship training.
• Increase awareness on children’s rights and provide care and support.
• Enhance environmental conservation and water sanitation awareness.
• Support OVC/MVC and street children through rehabilitation centers.
• Promote IDYDC programs through NURU FM radio.

Programs and Activities:
IDYDC operates in Iringa, Njombe, Dodoma, Mbeya, and Dar es Salaam, implementing diverse programs such as:
Health Projects:
• USAID Afya Yangu: Enhances access to high-quality, comprehensive health services in Iringa.
• USAID Tulonge Afya: Improves health behaviors through social and behavior change communication.
• USAID Kizazi Kipya: Enables orphans and vulnerable children and young people to utilize health-related and other services.
• UNICEF Afya Yetu and PETS: Focuses on social accountability and public expenditure tracking in the health sector.
Street Children Rehabilitation:
• Upendo Centre: Provides temporary shelter, education, and reunification services for children living and working on the streets.
Vocational Training Centers (VTC):
• Offers skills training to youth for employability.
Environmental Programs:
• Education on water sanitation, COVID-19 prevention, and school toilet construction.
Entrepreneurship Education and Micro-credit:
• Provides financial literacy and small loans to women and youth.
Nuru FM Community Radio:
• Broadcasts educational and advocacy programs.
Football for Hope Centre (FFHC):
• Uses sports to promote health education and life skills among youth.

Key Accomplishments:

• USAID Afya yangu Project (May 2017 to date): Supports high-quality, comprehensive, and integrated health services, especially for women and youth, focusing on maternal, neonatal, child and reproductive health, and nutrition outcomes.
• USAID Tulonge Afya Project (August 2018 to 2022): Catalyzes opportunities for Tanzanians to improve their health status by transforming socio-cultural norms and supporting healthier behaviors.
• USAID Kizazi Kipya Project (March 2017 to 2021): Enables orphans and vulnerable children and young people aged 6-19 years affected by HIV to utilize age-appropriate HIV/AIDS-related and other services for improved care, health, nutrition, education, protection, livelihoods, and psycho-social well-being.
• Edu-Sport Program: Supported by the FIFA Foundation, focuses on health education through sports and fights against the spread of COVID-19, malaria, HIV/AIDS, TB, sexual reproductive health, and drug and alcohol abuse.
• Public Expenditure Tracking System (PETS) in Health Project: Financed by the Foundation for Civil Society, focused on social accountability and public expenditure tracking in the health sector in Mufindi DC.
• USAID Jifunze Uelewe Project (March 2023 to date): Aims to improve literacy and numeracy skills for pre- primary through Standard 4 learners by creating welcoming and supportive learning environments in target regions.
