Disabled Woman Without Borders (Femme Handicapée Sans Frontière (FHSF)) is an organization under Congolese law created in 2008 under the initiative of women and girls living with disabilities and with its head office in Uvira, Mulungwe District, Avenue, Shishi N°87 route -pelika cemetery.
FHSF's mission is to promote in an inclusive manner the rights of women and girls living with disabilities so that they regain their dignity and self-esteem.
Global objective:
FHSF aims to contribute to the socio-economic and political integration of women and girls living with disabilities to strengthen their participation in decision-making at all levels, particularly women and children who are victims of sexual violence.
Specific objectives
• Provide psycho-social, medical, legal and socio-economic assistance to women and girls living with disabilities (victims of sexual violence) and their dependents.
• Contribute to the food security of vulnerable population
• Ensuring peace education (conflict prevention and transformation)
• Contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development
• Promote entrepreneurship
• Ensure the resilience and socio-professional integration of women and girls living with disabilities and other vulnerable people
Areas of intervention
• Community health (water, hygiene, sanitation, support for health institutions, payment for bills for vulnerable people)
• Education (school supplies, payment of school fees, technical support to educational institutions)
• Human rights (monitoring, support and legal assistance)
• Peace (conflict prevention and transformation)
• Good governance (popular expression platform, advocacy, etc.)
• Civic education (awareness raising, seminars …)
• Environment (environmental education, reforestation)
• Female entrepreneurship (microcredit)
• Sport and leisure (cultural dance, football)
Activities:
• Prevention campaign against malaria in professional training centers for people living with disabilities. Our center for supporting women and girls living with disabilities is the children who suffer from malaria every day. Our organization carries out community awareness-raising activities on the fight against malaria in schools and professional training centers.
• Training of 3000 women and girls living with disabilities cutting and sewing and making small hand baskets commonly called Bikapo in Uvira with the support of MADRE,
• Support for the education of girls living with disabilities who are university students in North Kivu with funds from VIGIF,
• Training of women and girls on human rights with the support of ROFAF (Network of women's organizations in French-speaking Africa) in North Kivu,
• Empowerment of women and girls living with disabilities through artisanal techniques for making donuts with the Global fund for women in North Kivu etc.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
