Qui sommes-nous
Cape of Good Hope Orphan Care and Family Support Project (COGHOC/FSP) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2000 by a community change agents and community based rehabilitation workers after analyzing the need to advocate for the rights of the neglected elderly, orphans, women, people living with HIV/AIDS, disabled children in need of special care and as well as protecting the environment.
Our mission:
Ensuring effective delivery of quality services for a healthy society through quality health services, education and life skills that enhance human resource productivity and raise the living standards of the orphans, families infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS, people with disabilities in order to attain sustainable socio-economic development.
Objectives
• To advocate the rights of children with disability, orphans and welfare of the aged;
• To promote health and environment improvement initiatives that enhance community livelihood;
• To provide formal education to disadvantaged children through child sponsorship programs;
• To form alliances and networks with other local and international organizations involved in human development programs;
The organization operates in Mukono and Buikwe districts in Uganda and its activities include Education for orphans; Adult literacy; HIV/Aids awareness and sensitization and Environmental education.
Activities:
• Construction of a primary orphanage school called Tom and Carroll Memorial Education Centre
• Sinking of a borehole and installation of plastic water tank at the Education Centre
• Establishment of a poultry house at the Education Centre
• Establishment of an Eco-san toilet to promote organic farming at the Education Centre
• Distribution of quality maize and bean seeds and household items to 25 widows and 15 vulnerable children of Lugazi Camp, Kawolo sub-county
• Donation of household items to one male peasant farmer in Nama sub-county, Mukono district
Current activities:
• Provision of primary formal education to 235 orphans (99 boys and 136 girls) at the Education Center.
• Rearing 400 broiler chickens at the Education Center.
• Training primary children in sustainable organic farming practices at the Education Center.
Jimmy Katende is the Executive Director of the Cape of Good Hope Orphan Care and Family Support Project (COGHOC/FSP).
For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Also we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
