Qui sommes-nous

Tanzania Albino Society (TAS) is a national non-profit organization established in 1978 by albinos as a response to fatal skin cancer and other social and economic challenges. Since its inception, the organization serves as a resource center and the supporting organ for people with albinism in Tanzania, with 8000 registered members across the country.
TAS is the national umbrella and NGO determined to empower and protect people with albinism. TAS is the oldest organization comprised of individuals and groups of persons with albinism, networked through the existing regional and district branches across the country.
As part of our strategies, TAS founded the National Albinism Day, the only in the world which is marked on May 4 of every year and which for the first time in the history it was also marked by the UN Experts in the year 2013, and recognized as one of the powerful strategies that all states around the world should have.
TAS also support people with albinism through learning aids in schools, to helps with their low vision problem; education and aids for skin and eye care; conduct periodic skin cancer clinics and; continuously lobby and advocate for the rights of children, men, women and old persons with albinism. On so doing, we are recognized as one of the strongest albinism movement in the world.

Our Mission
TAS strives to emancipate albinos in Tanzania and Africa as a whole from society´s negative attitude, discrimination, stigma and humiliation by overcoming barriers that hinder them from enjoying human rights.

Our Vision
TAS envisions an inclusive society promoting dignity of albinos
