Bolivian Children's Aid (BKHW) was founded in 1985 and operates nationwide.

Goals of the organisation
The association's main task is the promotion and care of children and adolescents in Bolivia. To this end, facilities and projects in Bolivia are supported with cash and in-kind donations. The donations help to satisfy basic needs and to enable school and vocational education. Likewise, medical care and nutrition are promoted. In addition, the association contributes to international understanding and awareness.

Through Weltwärts and individual voluntary services, we bring dedicated young people to Bolivia. The BKHW's South-North Volunteer Program was launched in 2013 and is aimed at Bolivian volunteers between the ages of 18 and 29 who want to complete twelve-months of voluntary service in Germany.

Projects
• Casa Esperanza: Casa Esperanza boarding school is located about 2 hours from La Paz, in the rural area of Uypaca-Achocalla. From Monday to Friday, it offers accommodation for up to 22 children between the ages of 8 and 14, providing food and help with homework as well as leisure activities. Since its founding in 2008, Casa Esperanza has been supported and financed by the Dutch organization "Stichting Esperanza-Bolivia". The BKHW has been providing financial support since 2016.
• Centro Educativo Multifunctional Villa Armonia (CEMVA): CEMVA is a social project on the outskirts of Sucre, Bolivia, to help the Quechua-speaking rural migrants to acquire better living conditions. In early 1994, the project started with a kindergarten - it now consists of four school buildings, two sports fields, two kindergartens, a day care centre, a health centre, nine training workshops, a student canteen and a children's playground.
• Cardiac Centre: The Cardiac Centre is located in central La Paz and is a medical practice for children and adolescents with heart disease. The main task is to help children with congenital or acquired heart defects.
• La vida sigue - Life goes on: This project helps young Bolivians to receive further education: young people receive a scholarship for the duration of their vocational training, thus helping them to help themselves. Through training, the chances of getting a job increase enormously. Furthermore, the project promotes social inclusion in society. The young people participate in joint activities with other young people, they have the opportunity to receive further training (such as computer courses) and get help and assistance with finding a job, with medical problems and learn to manage the money available.
• Musuq Sunqu (Quechua, in English: New Heart) was launched in 2014. The Musuq Sunqu project offers lunch to Lajastambo children and homework assistance in the afternoon. In addition, the children in the project learn the importance of personal hygiene by washing hands together before eating and brushing their teeth after eating. In addition, every child helps with the tasks in the Comedor, be it the independent washing of their own dishes, the cleaning of the premises or helping in the kitchen.
• Wiñay: The project "Wiñay" (“grow” in Quechua) has been in Sucre for 17 years. The work focuses on the three neighbourhoods of Canadá, Bartolina Sisa and Horno K'asa A in north Sucres, Bolivia. Around 230 children and adolescents receive help with their homework every day and the opportunity to take advantage of other educational and cultural opportunities, such as English, rhythm, art or baking courses. They also have access to a library. Knowledge competitions awaken children's ambition and teamwork is practiced. Through preventive measures, education, health courses and health campaigns we aim to prevent serious illnesses. Dental treatment is available and necessary doctor's visits and treatments are financially supported.
